Trauma is a complex and deeply personal experience that can have profound effects on an individual's mental health and well-being. Types of Trauma:

  1. PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder):

  1. Dissociative PTSD (Dissociative Subtype of PTSD):

  • Definition: Dissociative PTSD is a subtype of PTSD characterized by significant dissociation in response to trauma.

  • Trauma Types: It occurs in individuals who have experienced overwhelming trauma, leading to mental detachment from the traumatic experience.

  • Symptoms: Alongside core PTSD symptoms, individuals with this subtype may experience amnesia for traumatic events, depersonalization (feeling detached from their own body or emotions), derealization (perceiving the world as unreal), and altered perceptions of time.

The Impact of Trauma on Mental Health:

  • Emotional Distress: Trauma often leads to intense emotional distress, including anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, and shame.

  • Physical Symptoms: Trauma can manifest as physical symptoms such as headaches, sleep disturbances, and gastrointestinal issues.
